PASS Ran `bash scripts/fetch-references.sh`: exit 0, all 14 print `ok`. Ran `bash tests/scripts/references.sh`: exit 0, "14 pins match, sparse set and submodules in place, gpui rev agrees". Every `reference/*` worktree is clean. r1 defects, each confirmed fixed: scripts/fetch-references.sh:18 — The skip now also requires `sparse_ok`. Reproduced the r1 scenario on a scratch copy of reference/libreoffice-core with `vcl/inc` added to the list. The script printed `fetch`, `sparse-checkout list` showed six paths, and `vcl/` was present. A second run printed `ok`. scripts/fetch-references.sh:45 — mailcore2 submodules are now initialized. In reference/, ctemplate, libetpan and tidy-html5 show a leading space in `submodule status --recursive`, and `deps/libetpan` has sources. A fresh scratch fetch of mailcore2 checked out all three at their recorded commits. Deinit of `deps/tidy-html5` showed `-`. The next run restored it. tests/scripts/references.sh:39 — The test now fails on any `-`, `+` or `U` line from `submodule status --recursive`, or on an empty list, for mupdf and mailcore2. Confirmed that the grep catches a deinitialized submodule. No new defects in the changed code.
