The menu, emoji picker, clipboard, OSD, reminder flow and Wi-Fi QR code
mapped a fresh surface on every open. Qt drew its first frames before
Hyprland sent the surface's fractional scale: the pixel ratio stepped
2, 1, then 1.6, so on a 1.6 display each overlay showed blurry for
~350ms before going sharp.
A new OverlayWindow keeps the surface. Hidden, it parks as a 1x1,
input-less layer below windows, off the overlay layer so it never
blocks direct scanout. Showing only resizes and raises it, so the scale
is already settled. Content stays hidden until the surface has grown,
so no 1x1 frame is stretched across the screen, and the window follows
the focused monitor each time it is shown. The image picker's own
fullscreen parking moves onto it too.
Each parked overlay keeps a Qt window alive: at rest the shell holds
~40 MiB more RSS and ~20 MiB more GPU memory.

qs ipc client to ask this same shell to do it, about 60ms of the path.
Call shell.summon directly instead, and fall back to bash when the call
is refused or the action is anything more than a bare summon.

Opening the theme picker ran omarchy-theme-switcher to rebuild its index
and then made a second IPC call, about 170ms before the picker mapped.
The picker now holds the theme rows itself, opens from them at once, and
refreshes them behind the open via omarchy-theme-switcher --print-rows.
It applies the chosen theme with omarchy-theme-set directly, so
omarchy-theme-set no longer preloads the picker.
From the keybinding to the overlay mapped drops from ~245ms to ~83ms.

Each `bash -lc` starts a login shell that re-sources the profile
(mise activation, /etc/profile.d) on every invocation — ~16 forks per
call versus ~2 for `bash -c` — which taxes every menu/panel/launcher
action the shell shells out for. The session already exports PATH and
env to the shell, so omarchy commands resolve fine under `bash -c`.
Switch the internal/omarchy-owned spawns (theme+background switches,
brightness, monitor scaling, DNS, lock/fingerprint, keyboard-layout
probe, voxtype status, and the `:`/printf state-file writes) to
`bash -c`. Leave `bash -lc` on the sites that run user-configurable
commands (custom bar-widget exec, menu provider/guard scripts,
launcher scan commands, configurable idle/screensaver command), where
a user's command may rely on their login environment.

Backspace/Ctrl+U on an empty filter no longer calls setFilter(""),
which was resetting the list selection back to the top. This also lets
the menu's empty-filter Backspace fall through to goBack() with any
modifier held, as it did before the Util extraction.

The May 17 picker performance change made activated thumbnail loads asynchronous, which undid the earlier anti-flicker fix and let carousel movement flash blank thumbnails. Keep lazy activation, but load activated thumbnails synchronously so theme/background picker navigation remains stable. Add regression coverage for the thumbnail loading mode.
Themes now drive typography the same way they drive colors: one [font]
base-size in shell.toml is the rem root, and every Style.font.<token>
(caption, bodySmall, body, subtitle, title, heading, display,
displayLarge, iconSmall, icon, iconLarge) derives from it via a fixed
multiplier. Themes can also pin individual tokens for stylistic
emphasis. base-size is clamped 11..13 until row-height tokens exist.
Bar dimensions move to the same singleton: [bar] size-horizontal /
size-vertical replace the hardcoded 26/28 in Bar.qml, exposed as
Style.bar.sizeHorizontal / sizeVertical.
Style.qml also resolves the fontconfig 'monospace' alias via fc-match
and exposes Style.font.resolvedFamily so panels can display the
concrete family. Watches ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf so it tracks
'omarchy font set <name>'.
The qs.Ui kit (PillButton, Dropdown, Toggle, TextField, etc.) and
every first-party plugin (bar widgets, settings, menu, clipboard,
emoji, polkit, notifications, osd, image-picker, dev-gallery) now
bind to Style.font.* instead of pixel literals. Only three deliberate
display-scale outliers remain: the notification empty-state glyph and
the weather flyout's hero temperature pair, all commented.
Background plugin's applyTheme IPC fast-path also pushes shell.toml to
Style so theme swaps update typography and bar size without waiting
for inotify debounce.
Dev gallery (omarchy dev ui-preview) now ships a Typography section
that renders the full scale and theme tokens live, and its summon
command is fixed (omarchy-shell-ipc -> omarchy-shell).
