If it is not run as a sub-shell, using open and then subsequently closing the app will pollute the existing terminal with messages like:
[1] 287915
[1]+ Done xdg-open "$@" > /dev/null 2>&1
Making it a subshell removes this noise and keeps it more like the open command in macOS.
* Replace yq with pure bash for TOML parsing
The yq-based parsing only worked with jq/yq v3 and broke with go-yq v4.
This change removes the yq and uses bash for parsing. Some additional improvments:
- Handles single and double quoted values
- Strips inline comments (e.g. "#hex" #comment)

For Bluetooth audio devices, the friendly name (e.g., "Shawn's AirPods Max")
is stored on the Device entry in wpctl, not the Sink entry. The previous fix
looked up object.id (the sink), which shows the raw bluez ID like
"bluez_output.90:9C:4A:EE:01:1C".
This fix looks up device.id first to get the friendly name from the Device
entry, falling back to object.id for non-Bluetooth devices.

When a kernel upgrade is taken in, we replace current modules with new
ones and they are not available until we reboot. This can cause the
system to appear broken, especially when plugging new hardwaare like a
pen drive or odd input device.
This patch adds kernel-modules-hook which keeps the current modules even
if the package is replaced. A one-off clean-up service runs on startup
to remove older modules.
