Searching the menu for an installed app buried it: "brave" listed Setup >
Defaults > Browser, Install > Browser and Remove > Browser ahead of the
Brave app itself. All four are exact label matches scoring 0, so the
tiebreak falls to declaration order, and mergeAppRows appends app rows
after every static item.
Bias app rows ahead of menu entries that match equally well. The bias is
smaller than the gap between match tiers, so a menu entry that matches the
query better still sorts first.

The apps list rebuilt its rows by writing into the maps held by the menu's
items and itemOrder var properties. Writing into an object owned by a QML var
property is not reliable: the same row object written into a plain JS object
always lands, but written through the property it occasionally arrives with the
key created and the value undefined. One write per rescan was lost, on a
different app each time.
A lost write left an id in itemOrder with no item behind it. The old purge only
deleted app rows it could find in items, so the orphan survived the next merge,
the add loop appended a second row for the same app, and the list grew by one --
permanently, and again on every later rescan. Touching a single desktop file
fires around a dozen merges, because the entry model emits valuesChanged per
insert and removal while it reconciles, so duplicates piled up quickly: nine
YouTube rows on the reporting machine, and Alacritty doubled before that.
The bookkeeping moves into MenuModel as two pure functions that build fresh maps
for the caller to assign in one shot, so the fragile write disappears. They also
make the merge self-healing rather than merely correct-when-nothing-is-lost: an
id with no item is dropped instead of carried forward, and an id is listed once
even when two desktop entries claim it -- so no single dropped write can compound
into a duplicate row again. The bash-backed providers behind the font and power
profile lists had the same latent bug and get the same treatment.

The menu card re-centered on every resize, so searching or moving into
a submenu made it jump around. It still opens centered like before, but
the first search keystroke or submenu move freezes the top line where
it sits — from then on the card only grows and shrinks downward.
Closing unfreezes. Also drop the 220px minimum height so the card
always hugs its content instead of leaving a void under short lists.

Accumulate sub-threshold movement so slow motion with a flat acceleration profile updates selection. Sample pointer state on row entry and carry pointer intent through subordinate menus while preserving predictable keyboard selection.
Static submenus and links now inherit visibility from their descendants,
so hardware sections like Touchpad Haptics disappear on machines without
the hardware instead of opening empty. Laptop Display and Mirror Display
are guarded by omarchy-hw-laptop.
The guard evaluator brace-wraps every when/checked condition before
silencing it, so conditions in the jsonc no longer need their own
>/dev/null plumbing, and parents no longer need to repeat their
children's guards.

Each `bash -lc` starts a login shell that re-sources the profile
(mise activation, /etc/profile.d) on every invocation — ~16 forks per
call versus ~2 for `bash -c` — which taxes every menu/panel/launcher
action the shell shells out for. The session already exports PATH and
env to the shell, so omarchy commands resolve fine under `bash -c`.
Switch the internal/omarchy-owned spawns (theme+background switches,
brightness, monitor scaling, DNS, lock/fingerprint, keyboard-layout
probe, voxtype status, and the `:`/printf state-file writes) to
`bash -c`. Leave `bash -lc` on the sites that run user-configurable
commands (custom bar-widget exec, menu provider/guard scripts,
launcher scan commands, configurable idle/screensaver command), where
a user's command may rely on their login environment.

Backspace/Ctrl+U on an empty filter no longer calls setFilter(""),
which was resetting the list selection back to the top. This also lets
the menu's empty-filter Backspace fall through to goBack() with any
modifier held, as it did before the Util extraction.

With initial workspace tracking disabled, windows naturally open on the active workspace. Remove the explicit Hyprland workspace dispatch and let shell actions, shell restarts, and presentation terminals launch directly.
Explicit profile selections from the power panel or menu are now saved
under an ac/battery key in ~/.local/state/omarchy/powerprofiles and
reapplied on boot and on plug/unplug. Only successful, user-made
selections are persisted, so the performance/balanced defaults still
apply when nothing has been chosen.
All entry points key off the same power signal, UPower's OnBattery:
the shell reads it natively and omarchy-powerprofiles-set autodetect
queries it via busctl. This replaces the sysfs online checks, which
disagreed with the shell on desktops without power_supply entries and
lagged behind plug events on some USB-C laptops.
Plug/unplug switching moves from the udev rule into the shell's battery
service, which already receives UPower's debounced state changes, so
the udev rule and its settle-sleep workaround are gone.

Five plugins (menu, launcher, clipboard, emojis, polkit) each looked up
OMARCHY_MENU_FONT with the same env-or-monospace fallback. Hoist the
resolution into Style so plugins read one source of truth, and so the
fallback follows the real fontconfig family Style already tracks instead
of the literal string "monospace".
Themes now drive typography the same way they drive colors: one [font]
base-size in shell.toml is the rem root, and every Style.font.<token>
(caption, bodySmall, body, subtitle, title, heading, display,
displayLarge, iconSmall, icon, iconLarge) derives from it via a fixed
multiplier. Themes can also pin individual tokens for stylistic
emphasis. base-size is clamped 11..13 until row-height tokens exist.
Bar dimensions move to the same singleton: [bar] size-horizontal /
size-vertical replace the hardcoded 26/28 in Bar.qml, exposed as
Style.bar.sizeHorizontal / sizeVertical.
Style.qml also resolves the fontconfig 'monospace' alias via fc-match
and exposes Style.font.resolvedFamily so panels can display the
concrete family. Watches ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf so it tracks
'omarchy font set <name>'.
The qs.Ui kit (PillButton, Dropdown, Toggle, TextField, etc.) and
every first-party plugin (bar widgets, settings, menu, clipboard,
emoji, polkit, notifications, osd, image-picker, dev-gallery) now
bind to Style.font.* instead of pixel literals. Only three deliberate
display-scale outliers remain: the notification empty-state glyph and
the weather flyout's hero temperature pair, all commented.
Background plugin's applyTheme IPC fast-path also pushes shell.toml to
Style so theme swaps update typography and bar size without waiting
for inotify debounce.
Dev gallery (omarchy dev ui-preview) now ships a Typography section
that renders the full scale and theme tokens live, and its summon
command is fixed (omarchy-shell-ipc -> omarchy-shell).
