Right-clicking the clock now reaches "Thursday 09:39:23" and its AM/PM twin, and the widget's SystemClock ticks once a second only while a format that prints seconds is showing — every other format keeps the minute precision it had, so nobody pays for a repaint a second to read a label that changes once a minute.

Qt reads an opening quote with no closing one as a literal running to the end of the format, so "HH:mm 'sec" prints "09:39 sec" and never a second count — but the seconds test stripped only balanced quotes, saw the s, and put the widget on a per-second tick for a label that changes once a minute. The wiring assertions went the other way: each passed while the feature was broken, so hard-coding showsSeconds to false, dropping the label's onDateChanged, or commenting the precision line out and leaving the text behind all shipped green. Comments now come out of the source before it is matched, and both halves of the tick are asserted.

25bee1d2a3 Keep the calendar's day names in English (#6988)
The calendar grid's header row and the week-start toggle label were the only
text in the shell that followed the system locale, so a German desktop drew
MO DI MI over an interface that is English everywhere else. Nothing chose that;
they were the only two places reading day names off Qt.locale().

Take them from en_US instead. Where the week starts still follows the locale:
that is a regional convention rather than a translation, and it stays
overridable through weekStartDay.

Dropping the trailing-period strip with it, since that existed only for the
locales this no longer renders.

* Stop closed network panels from leaving Wi-Fi scanning enabled

refresh() defaults scanWifi to false and its no-scan branch enabled the
scanner unconditionally. Five paths reach it with no panel on screen —
Component.onCompleted, clearNetworkAction(), failNetworkAction(), the
band-change actionProc exit, and the 30s actionTimeout — so the scanner
stayed on and Quickshell kept re-arming RequestScan behind a closed panel.
scanRestart had the mirror gap: it enabled the scanner 100ms after
refresh(true) without re-checking that the panel was still open.

Every sweep takes the radio off the operating channel, so this degraded
the link it was scanning from: one sweep every 17s, gateway RTT rising
from ~2ms to repeated 150ms+ spikes on an otherwise idle connection.

Gate the scanner block on the panel being open, cancel a pending restart
on close and re-check the panel when it fires, and track the WifiDevice
this instance enabled so close, device replacement and destruction
release the right object. Destruction matters on its own: a bar reload
with the panel open would otherwise die with opened still true and never
write scannerEnabled = false.

* Cover the scanner ownership helper's own invariants

The previous assertion only pinned that no write bypasses
setScannerEnabled(); it said nothing about what the helper does. Dropping
either the opened gate or the release-before-adopt from the helper still
passed, while a closed instance could reclaim scanning and a device swap
could leave the previous interface scanning.

Run the helper's actual JavaScript against stand-in devices instead,
following the extract-and-eval pattern the agents panel tests already use.
Removing either invariant now fails its own assertion.

457aec6a8c Stop Bluetooth discovery when the panel closes (#6794)
The discovery retry timer turned adapter.discovering on every second
while the panel was open, and nothing ever turned it off. The BlueZ
discovery session behind it is held by quickshell's D-Bus connection,
so one visit to the panel left the radio in inquiry until the next
shell restart — continuously starving A2DP audio on the same controller
into stuttering, and 'bluetoothctl show' kept reporting
'Discovering: yes' long after the panel was gone.

The panel now tracks the StopDiscovery it owes BlueZ and settles it
once closed. A timer bound to the confirmed discovery state does the
stopping, rather than a write in the close handler: quickshell only
forwards a discovering write that differs from the last state BlueZ
reported, so a stop issued while a just-fired StartDiscovery is still
awaiting confirmation would be swallowed and leak the session. Binding
to adapter.discovering re-arms the stop whenever the confirmation
lands, a reopen inside the first interval keeps the scan running
uninterrupted, and attempts are bounded so a session another BlueZ
client holds up cannot draw StopDiscovery calls forever.

One widget instance exists per monitor and they all share the default
adapter — the same shared-backend shape the network panel's wifi
scanner fix (#6772) dealt with — so the debt follows the session: an
instance opening onto a running scan adopts it, a closing instance
hands it to a panel still open on another monitor (the popout handoff
closes one instance as it opens the next), and a destroyed instance
passes it to a surviving sibling.

Previously, right-clicking the audio icon muted only the output. Whereas
the switch at the top of the panel mutes all audio (inputs and outputs).

Pairing the right-click to the switch seems a bit less confusing, and
also matches the behaviour with other panels (e.g. Bluetooth, Tailscale,
etc).

c53190be07 Remember Bluetooth on/off through the rfkill soft block (#6682)
* Turn Bluetooth off with an rfkill soft block

BlueZ never persists an adapter's Powered property, so turning Bluetooth off in
the panel lasted only until the next boot. Omarchy's answer was AutoEnable=false,
which persists nothing either — it just means "never power the adapter on", so
Bluetooth came up off every boot whatever the user had chosen.

The soft block already does the job. systemd-rfkill saves every switch under
/var/lib/systemd/rfkill and restores it early on the next boot; that is the
entire purpose of the unit. Blocking also covers every controller at once, where
bluetoothctl only ever addresses the default one.

So the block becomes the state and BlueZ follows it: with AutoEnable back at its
stock default, lifting the block is enough for bluetoothd to power the adapter up
on its own. Powered still tracks the block, so the panel switch and icon read it
exactly as before. Everything that turns Bluetooth on or off goes through
omarchy-bluetooth-power, because bluetoothctl power on fails while a block is set.

bluetoothctl show, which reports the default controller only. A powered dongle
sitting behind a powered-down internal controller read as off and got blocked
along with it. Enumerate the controllers and take any powered one as on, exposed
as is-on so callers do not each reinvent the read.

The wait counted probes rather than time, so a wedged D-Bus turned a two-second
bound into roughly fifty across a full power-up. One deadline around the whole
wait holds it near nine.

update run over SSH failed here with EACCES. Migrations run under bash -e, so

other measurements can wear the same cluster. The network panel keeps
its process handling and becomes a thin dressing of the overlay.

omarchy-disk-speedtest streams live write and read MB/s once a second by
sampling the backing block device's kernel I/O counters while dd workers
generate the traffic, the same way the network test samples the
interface counters. The stress data is an incompressible urandom chunk
staged in RAM, written with fdatasync per pass and fadvise drop-behind:
O_DIRECT silently falls back to the page cache on btrfs, and zeros never
reach a compressed filesystem at all. Scratch files are created
exclusively per invocation and removed even when a dismissal interrupts
the run mid-phase.

The omarchy.disk-speedtest panel dresses the shared SpeedTestOverlay
with write and read dials in MB/s, titled with the hardware model of
the disk under test.

The menu grows a Trigger > Tests submenu holding the new Disk Speed
Test and the Network Speed Test, which moves there from Setup > Network.

Successive runs could swing 40% because the settled figure was just the
last one-second sample of a single buffered dd stream, taken while btrfs
copy-on-write churned the extent allocator on every rewrite pass and the
fadvise cache-eviction dance stayed advisory.

The test files are now marked NOCOW, which is what makes O_DIRECT truly
direct on btrfs -- with checksums on it silently falls back to the page
cache -- and lets every rewrite land in place. Four parallel workers per
phase give the device a queue depth it can stretch out on, and the
figure the dial settles on is the steady-state average over the whole
phase with the first warm-up second excluded, not whatever rate the
final second happened to catch. Together this tightens successive runs
from +/-40% to a few percent of each other, at the device's actual
spec throughput.

The read phase now runs first, staged against freshly written files,
with the read dial on the left. Workers also only loop while the main
script lives, so a dismissal that loses the kill race can no longer
leave an orphan hammering the disk forever, and any worker dying before
the deadline fails the run instead of passing off partial figures.

Opening from the bar ran open() and then a bare refresh(). open() already
triggers onOpenedChanged -> refresh(true), which defers the PHY scan by
disabling the scanner and re-enabling it from scanRestart. The bare
refresh() that followed defaults scanWifi to false, so it took the other
branch and set wifiDevice.scannerEnabled synchronously on the click frame,
undoing the deferral and stalling the open on NetworkManager's access-point
flood. It also double-started the DNS and band probes.

nothing.

already asserts against Panel.qml source, so assert the closed branch calls
open() alone and never a second refresh().

A failed first connection attempt leaves the network profile saved, so the
network shows up as known. Clicking it again reconnects with the stored
wrong PSK and fails with WifiAuthTimeout, but the inline passphrase prompt
only reopened on NoSecrets, leaving no way to re-enter the password short
of forgetting the network.

Treat an auth timeout on a protected network as a wrong saved passphrase
and reopen the prompt; connectWithPsk overwrites the stored PSK on submit.

Fixes #6582

* Scope the wifi passphrase reprompt to panel-initiated connects

Background auto-connect retries also fire connectionFailed; without a
gate they would pop the passphrase prompt open unbidden, stealing focus
and wiping a passphrase mid-entry when another network fails.

For the gate to see the failure, the action safety-net timer must
outlast NetworkManager's 25s supplicant timeout -- at 15s it cleared the
action state before WifiAuthTimeout arrived, so a wrong saved password
showed "Timed out connecting" instead of "Wrong password". Bump it to
30s.

Also share the one ConnectionFailReason map between the Model.js
helpers instead of building a second partial copy inline.

which a clone or third-party plugin can replace, like the speed test.

SpeedTestPanel and WifiQrPanel both draw over a hardcoded near-black
scrim, but their text/tick colors came from bar.foreground -- a color
themed to contrast with the *bar's* own background, which flips
dark/light per theme. On themes with a dark bar.foreground, digits
and labels went invisible against the black scrim, leaving only the
accent-colored arc/needle (Color.accent) visible.

Add a fixed white-based on-scrim palette (onScrim/onScrimDim) to both
overlays and route all text/tick colors through it, independent of
theme. bar.urgent stays theme-driven since it's a semantic color
already legible on near-black.

72ffd58316 Offer AM/PM clock formats when right-clicking the bar clock (#6536)
Every preset in the right-click ring was 24-hour, so a 12-hour label was
something you had to hand-write into shell.json. Pair each locale-shaped
time preset with its AM/PM twin, and give vertical bars one stacked
variant. The ISO preset keeps its 24-hour clock, since ISO 8601 writes
time that way.

The Open-Meteo fetch is the only thing that updates the bar icon when a
location is configured, but a failed response was dropped silently with
no retry, leaving a stale icon until the next refresh tick. Give it the
same short retry loop the wttr fetch already has, and reset both retry
budgets on each full refresh cycle so an exhausted round (e.g. waking
before the network is back) doesn't starve retries for the session.

14f1bb6c88 Add a Wi-Fi band toggle to the network panel (#6437)
Pins the active connection to 2.4/5/6GHz, or leaves the choice automatic.
The section only appears on Wi-Fi when the network answers on more than one
band, or while a pin is in force so it stays clearable.

bin/omarchy-network-band reports and sets the band. It sets NetworkManager's
802-11-wireless.band rather than pinning a BSSID: NM 1.44+ accepts a third
band value so 5 and 6GHz can be pinned apart, and a band survives an AP
rotating its BSSIDs while leaving roaming between APs intact. It refuses a
band the network does not answer on, and restores the previous setting if
reassociation fails rather than leaving the machine offline.

Under Automatic the pills collapse and the header reads the live band
("WI-FI BAND: 2.4GHZ"); pinning reveals them and the header goes plain. The
height is animated, and the section stays mounted through the reconnect a
band change causes -- otherwise `kind` briefly stops being "wifi" and the
whole segment would tear down and rebuild.

Two fixes to the same panel fall out of this:

- Every stat row stays mounted and reads "--" until it has data, instead of
  appearing a beat after the panel opens and shoving the rows below down.
- The speed test's Run button is scaled to match the band header's controls
  and joins the keyboard cursor chain.

ToggleSwitch gains a settable trackHeight so a compact placement can render a
genuinely small switch instead of scaling one down onto fractional pixels.
Defaults are unchanged.

±120 notch per click, so touchpad scrolling felt uncoordinated and
uneven next to the keyboard/mouse behavior.

- shell/plugins/panels/audio/Panel.qml: accumulate raw wheel delta and
  only apply a step once it crosses a full mouse-notch's worth, so
  touchpad and mouse move the volume in identical 5% increments, and
  ping the OSD each time a step actually lands.
- shell/plugins/panels/monitor/Panel.qml: same accumulator for
  brightness, with a 5% floor so scrolling down can never blank the
  screen.
- shell/plugins/osd/Osd.qml: animate the progress bar's width instead
  of snapping, so successive steps glide smoothly.

* Give built-in plugins an honest on/off state

Every built-in reported itself enabled no matter what. A bar widget said
"enabled" while sitting nowhere near the bar, and disabling a built-in service
silently did nothing, because enabled meant "listed in plugins[]" and a
built-in never is. Nothing surfaced that, since the only caller listing plugins
was the CLI.

For a widget, on and off is its place in the bar, so listPlugins reports layout
membership -- what enable/disable actually toggles. For everything else built
in, loading by default is the right behaviour to keep, so switching one off is
recorded the other way round, in disabledPlugins[]. shell.json still carries
only the deviation from the defaults: the key is dropped the moment nothing is
switched off, leaving a config that never disabled anything byte-identical.

isEnabled still answers a separate question -- whether the component loads at
all -- and deliberately does not follow a widget out of the bar. omarchy.menu
is both a widget and the menu itself, so tying the two together would let
taking its button off the bar lock the menu out of the shell, with no way back
that isn't the CLI.

The panel drove a Flickable by hand: two Repeaters in a Column, plus an
ensureCursorVisible() that mapped each row into content coordinates and
moved contentY itself. That is the machinery a ListView already has, and
the hand-rolled version came with a 6px margin that scrolled the list
whenever the mouse merely rested near the viewport edge.

Flatten the remembered and discovered groups into one model whose entries
carry the section they came from, and let the view keep the current row
visible. Section headers are computed per index the way the network panel
does it. The cursor keeps working in section-relative terms, so
activation, forget, hover, and the hero toggle are untouched.

Positioning has to be deferred a turn: called straight out of
onCurrentIndexChanged it silently does nothing, because the model is
rebuilt every time discovery reports and the swap resets the view out
from under the call.

app's stream -- matching what the `m` key already does for the focused row.

Only channels that exist get a vote: a machine with no default source would
otherwise report its input unmuted forever, leaving the switch able to mute but
never to unmute.

Double-tapping the year bar asks for a birth year and a life expectancy,
and a second bar appears below measuring one against the other. Tab moves
between the two, Enter commits the pair, Escape drops them. Hovering the
bar names the thing, and double-tapping it puts it away again.

A birth year rather than an age, so the bar keeps counting on its own
instead of going stale the moment it is entered. Expectancy defaults to
ninety and falls back to it when what is entered makes no sense, so the
bar always has something to measure against; a birth year that makes no
sense leaves the bar hidden instead, which is also where it starts.
Putting the bar away keeps the expectancy, so setting a birth year again
brings your own number back rather than the default.

Claiming the shared suppression flag before showing meant the outgoing
panel's close cleared it again, leaving the incoming panel open with the
indicators still revealed. Guarding the clear instead only moved the
problem: handing off to a panel that does not manage the flag left it
stuck on, and the center indicators stopped revealing on hover for good.

Claim it after the handoff instead. The panel taking over always wins,
and a handoff to a panel that knows nothing about the flag still leaves
it cleared.

Clicking the clock reveals a month grid with ISO week numbers, a year
progress meter, and month stepping. Right click walks the common label
formats and writes the chosen one back to shell.json, so the bar shows
what the config stores. The week start toggles from the grid's "W"
heading and persists as weekStartDay, defaulting to the locale's own
first day.

Rich popup widgets live in their own plugin directories, so the clock
moves out of bar/widgets/ into panels/clock/. The id is unchanged, so
existing layouts and centerAnchor keep working.

The poll watchdog rearmed on every refresh, so a refresh interval shorter than
its timeout — the setting goes down to five seconds — pushed the deadline ahead

omarchy-file-select exited 1 both for nothing picked and for a chooser that
could not run, and omarchy-tailscale-send read it through a process
substitution, which drops the status anyway. A session bus that was not there
looked exactly like someone changing their mind. Separate the two exits and
read them with a command substitution.

Delivery picked a free name and then renamed, which overwrites anything that
takes the name in between. Link to the name instead: link(2) refuses one that
is taken, so the check and the claim are the same step.

David Heinemeier HanssonandClaude Opus 5 aa9f0c54c5 Add per-laptop speaker tunings, starting with the XPS 14
Laptop speakers ship voiced by the vendor's Windows DSP layer, which Linux does
not get. A tuning restores that as a PipeWire filter-chain in front of the
internal speaker sink, matched to the machine by DMI string and expected sink.

Adding a laptop is a directory under default/audio/tunings with two files and no
new code: matching is data. The XPS 14 DA14260 tuning included here was derived by
measuring the xps-audio-linux EasyEffects profile (MIT) and fitting a biquad chain
to it, so no impulse response or other upstream asset is redistributed. It measures
1.24 dB RMS against that reference, and matches its dynamic range within 0.1 LU --
the reference's multiband compressor turned out to contribute nothing, so a linear
chain replaces it. Bass Q is capped deliberately: a closer magnitude fit swung
group delay 31 ms across 63-80 Hz, which smears bass transients.

The graph runs as its own PipeWire client under its own config name rather than
loading into the audio daemon. The daemon only reads its config at startup, so a
daemon-loaded tuning could only be switched by restarting PipeWire -- which drops
every PulseAudio client's connection, and applications that do not reconnect
(Spotify) then have to be restarted by hand. Hosting it separately also contains
failure, since a malformed tuning breaks only that service.

Three things about the surrounding audio graph needed fixing for this to behave:

- Volume must live downstream of the tuning. omarchy-audio-output-sink is now the
  single definition of which sink an output's volume really uses, shared by the
  volume keys, the output switcher's OSD and the audio panel, so they cannot
  disagree. It resolves the current default output, which keeps it correct when
  headphones are selected while a tuning exists.
- The tuning's own output is a movable sink input, so rerouting "all streams" to a
  newly selected output would drag the processing onto headphones, or into the
  tuning's own sink, which is a cycle. It is pinned, and stream moves are limited
  to streams carrying an application.name.
- The physical sink a tuning fronts is not independently selectable, since picking
  it would only bypass the tuning, so it is kept out of the output list.

Applying happens at first-run, not finalize-user, because finalize-user also runs
in the ISO chroot where there is no audio server and nothing would retry.

7faf53c4c0 Name the monitor SCALE targets when multiple displays are connected
SCALE only applies to the focused monitor, which is easy to lose track
of with several displays. Show the focused monitor's name on the right
of the SCALE header (matching the BRIGHTNESS/TEXT SIZE value
convention), hidden when only one display is enabled.
